Faisant œuvre de sculpteur mais aussi de coloriste, habitant le sol comme les murs, cherchant à envahir l’espace, le travail de Marie Heughebaert trouve sa source dans un environnement quotidien, celui des chantiers urbains.
S’attachant aux profondeurs de ce monde en mouvement, elle recrée dans l’atelier, en terre, par le truchement fréquent du moulage, une variété de matériaux aux allures de trompe-l’oeil. Entreprise à travers laquelle l’artiste revendique l’absurde et l’inutile. Certains objets toutefois semblent encore garder un soupçon d’allure domestique mais c’est bien parce que Marie Heughebaert a fait de l’ambiguïté son terrain de jeu : vrai ou faux, dérisoire ou précieux, utilitaire ou purement sculptural ?
La couleur est reine, elle prône l’allégresse, souligne les formes et accentue les lignes. Une manière détournée de peindre ou dessiner dans l’espace.

As a sculptor but also as a colorist, living on the ground as well as on the walls, Marie Heughebaert's work finds its source in an everyday environment, that of urban construction sites.
Attaching herself to the depths of this world in movement, she recreates in the studio, in clay, through the frequent use of molding, a variety of materials with the appearance of "trompe-l'oeil".
An enterprise through which the artist claims the absurd and the useless.
Some objects, however, still seem to retain a hint of domestic allure, but this is because Marie Heughebaert has made ambiguity her playground : true or false, derisory or precious, utilitarian or purely sculptural ?
The color is queen, it advocates the joy, underlines the forms and accentuates the lines. A diverted way of painting or drawing in space.
